SecureIT

Invented the MSSP model—cloud-based cybersecurity years cloud was mainstream.

SecureIT, co-founded by Jay Chaudhry and Mahendra Vora in the late 1990s, was a groundbreaking cybersecurity company that anticipated the enterprise demand for cloud-based security long before it became mainstream. At a time when most businesses were only beginning to connect to the internet, SecureIT offered managed security services including real-time intrusion detection, vulnerability scanning, firewall management, and continuous monitoring. Its platform gave enterprises outsourced, always-on protection—effectively inventing what would later be known as the Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) model.

SecureIT’s forward-looking approach to delivering scalable, cloud-based security positioned it years ahead of the market. The company’s rapid growth and innovative model attracted attention from major industry players, and in 1998 it was acquired by VeriSign to form the core of its global managed security services division. The transaction delivered a strong return to investors and marked an early validation of the massive market potential in cybersecurity—a space that co-founder Jay Chaudhry would go on to lead again through Zscaler.
